In this room, there is a light wall to the left , a black wall to the right, and a neutral grey as the floor. Above there is a single white light.
Draw or paint a white sphere in this room and try to capture the effects of the surrounding environment. Keep in mind how light reflects off of certain objects (such as a pale wall), and is absorbed by others (such as a black wall). Also keep in mind “form” shadows and “cast” shadows.
The purpose of this task is to exercise the understanding of values and light and how it can define a shape. Giving it form with perceived depth, and volume. Though values are one of the most intricate and vital parts of art, I thought this would be good to start something like this earlier in the year this way later on we can approach a similar task and see how we have improved. Do your best and good luck!
